What do we want our children to become?  Engaged, productive, caring adults, yes?  Not just for them, but research tells us that adults committed to bettering their community started out as youth who volunteered.   Well, that’s part of the mission of Tricounty Youth Service Day (TYSD) – not only to encourage youth engagement but also to show our community the value of youth and ultimately make our community better.

TYSD 2012 engaged approximately 3,500 youth in more than 75 service projects all over the Tricounty. Young people with the support of their exemplary adult captains, created projects that encompassed the areas of education, health & wellness, environmental sustainability and community development. Additionally, there were those projects that infused all of the categories - projects that focused on kindness, tolerance, stewardship, understanding and respect.
